Error message: You can’t play with people who aren’t in your region.
This can happen if you’ve grouped up, attempted to start matchmaking, but you’re not in the same multiplayer server as someone in your group.
This has to do with the maximum ping speed our multiplayer servers require to include someone in that server. Players are automatically placed in the multiplayer server that will be the most stable, based on their ping speed.
It is possible for two people sitting next to each other to get different ping speeds, which results in them being placed in different servers during matchmaking. It is important to have a maximum ping speed in place to ensure lag does not affect gameplay.
Ping speed is independent of how “good” your internet connection is. It’s instead indicative of how long it takes for your device, connected to your network, to communicate with your closest multiplayer server.
You can check your connection to our multiplayer servers by going to SETTINGS > REGIONAL INFO > CHECK.
Ping speed less than 150ms is considered a stable connection (marked green or yellow) and 200ms is the maximum allowed to be on any server (marked in red). Ping speed closer to 200ms may be dropping intermittently below this threshold. In this case, you may be automatically swapping between a few different multiplayer servers in order to connect you to the next available, stable server.
A multiplayer server with a ping speed greater than 200ms is unavailable for matchmaking and greyed out.
After restarting the app, you can try one of the following:
Reset or refresh your internet connection to try and land in a different server. This is helpful if you find that you have high ping and might be on the border between two servers.
or
Swap to wifi or mobile data and check how this affects ping speeds.
Troubleshooting
Player names are not unique and you can change your name as many times as you like. To change your name, head to your PLAYER PROFILE by tapping on your name in the top left of the menu. Tap your name again and enter your new name. An error message will appear if you have entered an invalid name. Names must be at least 3 characters long and contain no profanity or special characters.
Your progress will be automatically saved as long as you have cloud saves enabled. You need to be signed in to Google Play Games or Game Center to activate cloud saves. You’ll be warned if cloud saves aren’t activated and you can check the status in the settings menu.
You can resume playing with your save data on multiple devices so long as you’re signed in with the Google Play Games or Game Center account already linked with Pico Tanks. Please ensure you DO NOT have multiple instances of Pico Tanks open at the same time; this can result in save data sync issues and loss of progress.
Cloud save data cannot be shared between iOS and Android devices.
You cannot transfer your account to another player. Never share your login details for Google Play or Game Center with anyone. Panda Arcade will never ask you for your password.

Pico Tanks supports a variety of controllers. Please ensure the controller you choose is compatible with your device and that it maps to a standard console controller.
Please note: the controller can not be activated in-game. Additionally, there is nothing in-game to activate or manage the controller.
You must connect and configure the controller before launching the game. Then, when you launch the game, it will automatically be activated as the main peripheral.
The controller does not work in the menus, only in battles. If you want to switch to touch control during a battle, simply tap the screen and you will see the touch controls appear. To return to using the controller, use any of its inputs.
